We’ll help you succeed

We are looking for an experienced business development manager who will help the Scotland region achieve their ambitious growth targets. You will be directly responsible to shape, drive and implement business development and marketing activity.
Understanding the local market is key to help realise these through the development of appropriate marketing and pursuit plans and subsequently manage the sales pipeline. You will influence senior stakeholders in the process and work in a collaborative way with central, and regional marketing and business development colleagues to implement best practice and campaigns. Key responsibilities will include:

Client facing & sales elements
Act as an ambassador of BDO in the local market
Identify new work opportunities for BDO through networking and face to face meetings with local businesses and desk research             
Leverage local and national campaigns to build relationships with quality businesses that fit with our regional growth strategy
Build and maintain relationships with local referrers

Revenue conversion & Bid
Provide bid support and challenge to internal teams throughout the bid cycle, ensuring we maximise win rates through the use of our best practice tools and are qualified appropriately
Effectively manage multiple bids concurrently at busy periods
Challenge the norm and create engaging bid proposals
Constantly review and improve sales/pursuit processes and bid documentation.

Client listening and account management
Ensure client feedback is gathered using firm-wide mechanisms for doing so, acting on isolated and trend issues ensuring there is an agreed plan for resolution
Have the ability and manner to conduct client care interviews as appropriate
Have a detailed understanding of key client accounts and work with local stakeholders to ensure proactive strategies are in place to grow/retain work

Marketing campaign
Oversight of all local marketing activity to ensure it is aligned to and supports the local strategy
Understand and leverage national marketing campaigns in local marketplace
Liaise with regional MSC colleagues to share ideas and mitigate duplication of effort

PR & Profile
Create and distribute PR to help build BDO profile locally including forming relationships with local journalists
Reuse relevant central releases to secure coverage

A strong understanding / experience in professional services preferred ideally in accountancy
Some field sales experience desirable
Experience of bid management and production
A professional qualification or can demonstrate commitment to ongoing learning
Good writing and communication skills
Ability to work independently and have excellent project management and communication skills with some experience in event management
A strong understanding of matrix-based organisations with complex service offerings to effectively develop and execute an overall business development strategy
Strong knowledge of local economy and drivers for change
Ability to challenge and influence senior stakeholders and drive projects, campaigns and events with an eye for quality/detail
Experience across all online and offline channels and ability to determine most appropriate for any given campaign to maximise ROI
Actively manage data quality and be willing to play an integral role in driving the use of our new CRM system
