The Dispute Resolution Department

Mishcon de Reya LLP has one of the largest and most comprehensive
Dispute Resolution offerings in London; over half of the Firm’s
lawyers are litigators. From a core of Fraud and Insolvency
litigators, we have built a team that covers most major areas of the
Dispute Resolution world including: White Collar Crime &
Investigations, Regulatory, Complex Commercial Litigation, Tax and
International Arbitration. The department is at the forefront of
developing new working practices, working closely with our data
science and cyber-security teams.

Duties and Responsibilities

The purpose of the role is to partner with the Chair of the Dispute
Resolution department and appropriate Division and Practice Group
Heads to develop and implement innovative and robust business
development and marketing strategies and activities that support the
department’s and firm’s business plans. This is a high growth practice
which we expect to evolve rapidly.

  • Deliver strategically sound, creatively inspiring and ultimately
    excellently executed ideas and campaigns.
  • Develop strong effective relationships with Partners and practice
    groups based on knowledge of the Firm, the practices, the markets
    and the different personalities involved.
  • Work closely with the PSLs to understand the key issues and trends
    which in turn will enable you to see opportunities to exploit which
    others can’t and identify and develop practice- specific products
    and services.
  • Identify which are the most appropriate clients for growth
    (current and past clients as well as future targets) and develop
    plans accordingly.
  • Work with the Intermediaries Relationship Manager to create strong
    plans for existing and new intermediaries that can fuel growth.
  • Identify new markets for the practice to exploit.
  • Strengthen the business development and marketing capability of
    our lawyers and raise their awareness of the help that the business
    development team can provide.
  • Provide a coaching facility to Partners to help them focus on the
    right opportunities, develop their marketing and selling skills in
    order develop their creativity and facilitate their strategy to the
    implementation phase.
  • Lead the development of the Firm’s profile both internally and
    externally (e.g. PR, editorial, thought leadership market research,
    select conferences, newsletters and seminars).
  • Develop annual plans as well as budgets.

Contributing to BD:

  • Be seen as a role model in the BD team.
  • Enhance the reputation of the BD team within the firm for its
    professionalism and for the strategic and distinctive value it provides.
  • Define and assist in the development of marketing and business
    development plans for cross-firm initiatives.
  • Assist the BD SLT in leading agreed cross firm projects.
  • Support and lead the collaborative culture within the team.
